What is B.Ed and it's Full Form -

The full name of B.Ed is Bachelor of Education. B. Ed is a post-graduate course in which the candidate is prepared to become a teacher. So that you can teach students well in school, if you want to become a teacher and you like to teach a lot and want to pursue your career in Teaching Line further, then you can apply for the B.Ed course. B. Ed course is of full two years. You can do this course only when your graduation is completed.

What should be the qualification for B.Ed Course

To study the B.Ed course, you have to clear the B.Ed Entrance Exam. Students who have completed their Graduate Degree are eligible for the B.Ed exams. For example, students who have Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom), Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree are eligible for B.Ed Entrance Exam conducted by various Universities and Colleges in India. For this, students need at least 50% marks at Graduate level.

After completing B.Ed, students become qualified for Master of M.Ed education. The National Council for Teacher Education is the NCT Constitutional body that monitors the teaching courses offered by various teacher training institutes in India.

Courses and Jobs after B.Ed. 


  • TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher): After completing Graduate level studies, you have already become a TGT. Therefore, candidates with BED degree are not required to do TGT. A TGT can study till the 10th standard.
  • PGT (Post Graduate Teacher): The student who is a Graduate and completing BED is a PGT as well. He can study till the 12th standard.
  • TET (Teacher Eligibility Test): This is a test which is the minimum eligibility criteria to become a government teacher.
  • After completing B.Ed like M.Ed or MA Education M.D., MA Education, etc., one can pursue higher education in education.

Salary after doing B.Ed. -

If you talk about salary, then TGT Teachers get an annual salary from 2.5 lakh to 3.5 lakh. PGT teachers get an annual salary from 4 lakh to 5 lakh. Apart from this, the salary varies depending on the qualification and experience at various other positions.
